Forgiveness

So at Zach's school they have the color system, meaning, if you get a "green day" you had a good day at school. Yellow- one incident, red- more serious incident, black- straight to the principal. And let's be clear, Zach's teacher is pretty laid back.  Anyway, Zach had 2 yellow days in a row and so he was grounded from any and all games until he got 5 straight green days again. Long story short he went to be babysat at my mom's house (who wasn't there). My brother and his wife were doing the watching. And when we came to pick up Zach, he was playing the Star Wars video game. Now, we had told him that he couldn't play any video games there so he knew what he was in for. We got him home and to bed without books or story telling. Lights out! Jake was maybe a bit short tempered with him but I left the room to put Brady to bed. I came back to check on Zach and he was staring , in the dark, at the wall. I bent over and looked him in the eyes and said, " what are you thinking about?" His response, " I am just trying to forgive my dad."  It was so cute in his little 5 year old voice. He was really contemplating this too. He went on to say that dad had hurt his feelings, but at the end told me that qoute, " I forgive him." I went straight down and told Jake. Oh what we learn from small children everyday. They were sent to this earth much more prepared than I was! Precious.

I bet he got to play video games after that! I think we could all learn a lot from your little man...very wise beyond his five years. I love that kid!!!!

What a sweet little guy. Seriously, it's hard being a kid! You're right. We have a lot to learn from our sweet little children.

Thanks Zachy for the reminder.

I always felt so bad when I had to disipline my first 3 boys...it was always so loud and wild and they bounced off the walls. But when you have sweet moments like those, it is a reminder that our darling children are really trying to be good...just struggling with their huge spirts in a busy, wild little boy body!!
